STARLYN WAS SITTING ON THE ROCKS BESIDE THE GULF OF MEXICO. SHE WAS PONDERING THE LIFE OF CREATURES IN THE SEA, WHAT IT WOULD BE LIKE TO BREATHE UNDER THE WATER, LIVE OUT THERE SO CAREFREE FROM THE DANGERS OF THE WORLD. THEN SHE THOUGHT ABOUT THE DANGERS OF THE OCEAN, PREDATORS. SHE FIGURED THAT LIVING OUT THERE WAS PROBABLY THE SAME AS LIVING HERE.
SHE KNEW SHE WAS GOING TO MEET A VAMPIRE THAT DAY, AND THE THOUGHT SCARED HER. SHE HAD ALREADY HAD TWO VISIONS ABOUT HIM IN HER MIND, AND DREW THEM INTO THE SKETCH TABLET SHE CARRIED WITH HER ALWAYS. HE WAS NOT A HANDSOME MAN, TALL AND THIN, DARK HEADED. SHE NEVER GOT VISIONS FROM FAR INTO THE FUTURE AND IT WAS AS IF THE VISION KNEW SHE WOULD HAVE DECIDED TO GO TO THE OCEAN THAT DAY - AND THAT HE WOULD SHOW UP THERE. BUT SHE KNEW TO NEVER DOUBT HER GIFT. IF THAT'S EVEN WHAT IT WAS.
FOR A LONG TIME, SHE SAW IT AS MOSTLY JUST A CURSE. GOD'S WAY OF BLAMING HER FOR BEING A HALF-BRED FAIRY, BORN TO A FAIRY AND A HUMAN. THE DAY SHE RAN AWAY SHE FELT LIKE ALL HER PROBLEMS WOULD BE SOLVED, BUT SOMETIMES THEY JUST GET WORSE. SHE CAN'T HOLD A JOB, VAMPIRES SCARE HER AS WELL AS BAD WEATHER. SHE TENDS TO LIVE HERE AND THERE, AND DOESN'T STAY IN ONE PLACE. SHE DOESN'T USE TECHNOLOGY AND CAN'T HOLD A JOB.
ALL THE FOOD SHE EATS, SHE STEALS. BUT THE ONE THING IN HER LIFE THAT HAS REMAINED CONSTANT WAS TO HAVE A BABY. SHE DESPERATELY WANTED TO BE A MOTHER, TO HAVE SOMEONE LOVE HER UNCONDITIONALLY THAT WOULDN'T AND COULDN'T HURT HER THE WAY SHE FELT LIKE SHE HAD HURT HER MOTHER. HER MOTHER DIDN'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS ISSUE OF PRECOGNITION BOTHERED STARLYN. NO ONE DID.
SO THERE SHE WAS, PLANTED ON THE ROCKS, WATCHING THE WAVES COME IN AND THE TIDE GO OUT. THE SUN WAS ALMOST DOWN AND NIGHT WAS FALLING. SHE THOUGHT SHE SHOULD HEAD BACK TO COVER, BUT WAS SURE THAT HER VAMPIRE CALLER WOULD BE APPROACHING SOON...

Lestat hadn't exactly retreated to the Mexican gulf for a cafe lunch and boutique shopping, as bad as Shadows was he could entertain himself there if he so wished. But today, it just felt as if there were too much noise there even in the silence. As he almost walked on to the beach he noticed a woman and haulted. He liked the anonomous approach, liked it.. liked it, walk away! This is the second fairy this week and he was sick of the wretched spell they had on him, Lestat knew it was taking hold of him when he couldn't turn his foot the other direction.
You don't want to walk up there, he told himself, women were like bugs, they crawled under your skin and you can never get rid of them. It was a good thing Lestat didn't have any breath or he'd have to hold it. He could already feel the rush of new excitement through his veins, were all fairies surrounded by love spells that kept vampires from hurting them? Lestat reminded himself to kill whichever witch cast that spell. She looked lonely and almost sad out on the beach, which Lestat told himself meant he would have success in at least making conversation. He knew how it felt to feel sad, tired, hopeless, worthless, and depressed, it seemed that when he wasn't under this useless spell he felt like that all the time.
He walked up onto the sand and took a seat on the rock that was further out and to her right. He made constant eye contact with her with those intense eyes, his forehead was boiling up from the sun so he pulled off this rust coloured sweater which showed a deep and mysterious scar down his chest, his dark eyes never leaving hers. "I feel like I should be offering you flowers to capture your attention" he said matter-of-factly, his tongue making an oval shape over his bottom lip and then it was withdrawn again. There was no way she was falling for that line, but what did he know about women? Damn fairies turning him into a fool.

STARLYN COULD FEEL THE PRESENCE OF ANOTHER BEING NEARING HER LOCATION ON THE BEACH, THE SUN WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY DOWN NOW, AND IT WAS GETTING DARK FAST - THIS MEANT HER VAMPIRE CALLER WOULD NOT BE MUCH LONGER BEFORE SHOWING HIS FACE. SHE COULD ALWAYS FEEL EMOTIONS FROM OTHER BEINGS, BUT THAT WAS JUST A TRAIT OF THE FAIRY IN HER. SHE HAS ALSO BEEN WRONG A TIME OR TWO AS WELL - CAUSING HERSELF TO BE PUT IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. SHE WAS FEELING CURIOUS ABOUT THE VAMPIRE NOW, THE ONE IN HER PICTURE.
SHE TURNED HER HEAD TO THE SIDE, THE TALL AND THIN MAN APPROACHING HER LOOKED IDENTICAL TO THE MAN SHE HAD DREW JUST A FEW HOURS BEFORE. THIS TOLD HER THAT THE LOCATION IN THE PHOTO HAD BEEN RIGHT, IF IT HAD NOT, SHE WOULD HAVE NOT SEEN THE VAMPIRE. SEEING HIM COMING CLOSER TO HER, SCARED HER. SHE KNEW THAT VAMPIRES WERE ATTRACTED TO FAIRIES, DANGEROUSLY SO. SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WOULD COME OF THAT ATTRACTION AND THE HEART IN HER CHEST BEGAN TO BEAT A LITTLE FASTER THAN NORMAL.
SHE HELD HIS EYE CONTACT UNTIL HE WAS CLOSER TO HER, HE REMOVED HIS SWEATSHIRT FROM HIS BODY, SHE COULD SEE A DEEP SCAR ON HIS CHEST, AND THIS MADE HER WONDER HOW IT GOT THERE, BUT SHE CONTINUED TO STARE AT HIM, HOLD HIS EYE CONTACT UNTIL HE WAS JUST A FEW STEPS AWAY. THEN HE SPOKE, HIS WORDS SEEMED COLD AND FILLED WITH NO EMOTION. BUT THE WORDS SEEMED TO BE THOUGHTLESS, LIKE HE HAD NOT THOUGHT ABOUT WHAT HE WAS GOING TO SAY TO HER AT ALL.
SHE TURNED SLIGHTLY ON THE ROCK TO FACE HIM, CROSSING HER LEGS AT THE KNEE, WHERE HER DRESS FELL TO THE SIDE, REVEALING A LITTLE MORE THIGH. SHE WONDERED HOW THAT MADE HIM FEEL. SHE HAD ALWAYS WONDERED ABOUT SEX WITH A VAMPIRE - HEARING FROM OTHER HUMANS AND BEINGS THAT IT WAS 'OUT OF THIS WORLD'. SHE THOUGHT ABOUT THAT NOW, AS SHE THOUGHT ABOUT A RESPONSE TO HIS COMMENT.
SHE REACHED OUT, TOUCHING HIS FACE, BRUSHING A PIECE OF HAIR FROM BESIDE HIS EYE, BACK TO THE TOP OF HIS HEAD. FAIRIES WERE VERY TOUCH-FEELY. SHE LIKED TO HAVE CONTACT WITH THE PEOPLE SHE MET, AND TALKED TO. SHE SLIGHTLY SMILED AT HIM AND SAID, I DON'T NEED FLOWERS, YOUR BEING HERE IS ENOUGH TO CAPTURE MY ATTENTION. I KNEW YOU WERE COMING.

Lestat's eyes widened, "You did? I didn't" he sounded relieved that his attention to Starlyn was expected. He wanted to sit right beside her, but decided not to. He did watch the sea in the same direction she had previously been looking. "I don't know about me but you look quite comfortable" he said to her, slightly jealous that all he could feel on these rocks were slight pinches on his behind.
Lestat walked behind her in a rush, eager to get off the rock and besides, he wanted to see exactly what she saw. He yanked his trousers upward toward his knee so he didn't get sand in his trousers and pulling loose wood off the beach that he could hurt his feet on before taking off his shoes. One step sideways and his foot would have gone straight though that plank of wood, he shuddered at the thought. He sighed in a relief, "Wouldn't suggest taking your eyes off the sand." he said casually, leaning against her shoulders, "Wouldn't want you to hurt you, love" his voice was low, almost seductive. Ooc: sorry its so bad, museless
