STARLYN WAS NOT SURE WHO SHE WAS GOING TO BE MEETING THAT DAY, BUT SHE HAD HER SKETCH PAD IN HER LAP AS SHE SAT UNDER THE LARGE TREE FULL OF SPANISH MOSS. THAT WAS COMMON DOWN HERE IN THE DAMP CLIMATE OF SOUTHERN LOUISIANA. MOSS GREW ALL OVER EVERYTHING. SHE LEANED HER HEAD BACK AGAINST THE TREE, CLOSING HER EYES AND TAKING IN ALL HER SURROUNDINGS. SHE COULD SMELL SWEET FLOWERS IN THE DISTANCE AND SHE COULD HEAR THE BIRDS AND OTHER CREATURES IN THE WOODED AREA THAT SURROUNDS THE OUTSKIRTS OF TOWN.
SHE OFTEN TRAVELED OUT INTO THE WOODS TO BE ALONE, TO GET AWAY FROM OTHER BEINGS IN SHADOW HOLLOW. THE VAMPIRES AND WEREWOLVES MADE HER FEEL DEPRESSED AND SHE HATED FEELING SAD. SHE LIKED TO BE HAPPY, IN A GOOD MOOD AND SHE LIKED TO SURROUND HERSELF WITH OTHERS THAT WERE TYPICALLY IN GOOD MOODS.
SO HERE SHE SAT, UNDER THE TREE. SHE OPENED HER EYES AGAIN, LOOKING AT THE SKETCH PAPER IN HER LAP. THE PAD WAS OPENED TO HER DRAWING FROM THE NIGHT BEFORE WHEN A VISION HIT HER, SHE DREW IT AS FAST AS SHE COULD. SHE HAD TO DO THAT BEFORE THE VISION DISAPPEARED FROM HER MEMORY... THERE WAS A DARK HEADED WOMAN IN THE PICTURE ON THE PAGE SKETCHED OUT IN BLACK AND WHITE. SHE WAS THIN AND BEAUTIFUL. THE DRAWING MADE STARLYN SMILE. SHE HAD NEVER DRAWN A BEING SO BEAUTIFUL BEFORE, SHE HAD NOT CAUGHT A NAME IN THE VISION, SO KNOWING THAT OUT HERE IN THE WOODS, MEETING THIS BEING, WAS ALL THAT SHE KNEW.
SHE FLIPPED THE PAGE OF THE TABLET, HOLDING HER LEAD PENCIL STILL OVER THE PAPER, SHE CLOSED HER EYES AGAIN, TRYING TO WILL HER BRAIN TO GIVE HER ANOTHER IMAGE TO DRAW ABOUT THIS WOMAN. NOTHING CAME. HER MIND WAS BLANK. SHE OPENED HER EYES AGAIN, STARING AT THE WEEDS AT HE ANKLES, HER WHITE DRESS GETTING DIRTY FROM SITTING ON THE DAMP GROUND.

Lucky hummed aloud to a tune that repeatedly played in her head. It had no name and she was sure it wasnt anything shed heard before... maybe she had. Maybe at one point in her life it had been there for her ears to pick up and pocket away into her subconscious. You're subconscious was such a funny thing, it hid so many things away that you didnt know and even when it came out you wouldnt think that it came from anywhere, which was the confusing part. Lucky had tried to figure out all that kind of stuff that pshychologists and people like that deal with but it was just too much so she gave up. The mind was still an interesting thing, but she preferred to stay on the less confusing side of things.
Trailing her hand along the bark of one of the trees she skipped a bit over the large roots that poked out above the ground. She loved the woods, loved nature. Maybe it was just in her genes, being a fairy and all, but she liked to think that if she were human or a vampire even she would like it just as much. The world was far too beautiful not to enjoy things like that. She really did feel bad for vampires though, mostly because they were stuck to the night. They couldnt even see a sunset or a sunrise and that is just a travesty in her books.
As much as lucky loved night she also loved the day as well. There were so many colors in the day, and you cant have a rainbow at night, all the flowers closed when the sun went down, and water didnt sparkle as much unless it was in the moonlight, but that was a different kind of beauty.
Movement caught her eye and she stopped, her blue eyes widening as she saw a bunny. oh.. she breathed and pressed her thin frame against a tree, following the movements of the bunny. She smiled and moved very lithely towards the bunny not alarming it. squating down she reached out her hand and made a little noise. The bunny perked his ears then looked at her. He seemed hesitant at first and Lucky thought hed flee but then he hopped the little ways towards her. She let him sniff her hand and then held her finger up running it up over his head. She smoothed her palm over the fluffy fur of his back.
Something in the woods snapped and the bunny stilled and then hopped away. Sighing she stood up again, brushing the bottom of her pale white dress off. She started humming again, making her way through the trees. Something else caught her eye this time but it wasnt an animal, it was a girl, a pretty thing in a white dress and a drawing pad. Lucky smiled and practically skipped over.
Hello... she said. I like your dress her blue eyes, rimmed in black liner sparkled a bit as she pulled the skirt of her dress out as well and twirled. We were destined to meet. she laughed. Of course they were destined, she was wearing a white dress as well and to lucky that meant something.

STARLYN WAS DOODLING BUNNIES ON HER SCRATCH PAD, NOT REALIZING HOW IRONIC IT WAS THAT HER NEW FAIRY FRIEND WAS OFF TO THE SIDE OF HER, PETTING A BUNNY. STARLYN KEPT CLOSING HER EYES FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME, TRYING TO TRIGGER A THOUGHT OR A VISION IN HER MIND, SOMETHING TO TELL HER HOW LONG TO WAIT FOR THE DARK HEADED GIRL. SHE DROPPED HER PENCIL AND LISTENED CLOSELY TO THE SOUNDS AROUND HER, BEING A FAIRY, SHE WAS VERY CONNECTED TO NATURE.
SHE SMILED AS SHE PICKED UP HER PENCIL AGAIN, DOODLING HER NAME ON THE PAGE WITH THE BUNNIES AS SHE HEARD FOOT STEPS GETTING CLOSER TO HER IN THE BRUSH OF THE WOODED AREA. SHE TURNED HER HEAD TO SEE THE SAME FIGURE FROM HER PAGE IN HER SKETCH PAD. THE THIN DARK HAIRED GIRL. STARLYN KNEW IMMEDIATELY THAT THE GIRL WAS ANOTHER FAIRY, NO WAY SHE COULD HAVE TOLD THAT FROM THE DRAWING.
THEN THE GIRL SAID HELLO, AND COMMENTED ON HER DRESS. THANKS, STARLYN SAID, GETTING UP FROM WHERE SHE WAS SITTING BESIDE THE TREE. SHE WAS TYPICALLY NAIVE WHEN IT CAME TO MEETING NEW PEOPLE, SHE TRIED TO MAKE FRIENDS, BUT PEOPLE IN THESE PARTS SOMETIMES DIDN'T STICK AROUND LONG, NOR DID THEY WANT TO BEFRIEND A FLITTY FAIRY. SHE HEARD THE GIRL SAY SOMETHING ABOUT BEING DESTINED TO MEET...
STARLYN NODDED TO HER, WE SURE ARE - I HAVE PROOF. SHE SMILED AT THE GIRL AS SHE FLIPPED THE PAGE IN HER SKETCH BOOK, SHOWING HER THE PICTURE OF THE MOSS COVERED TREE AND THE DARK HEADED GIRL IN A WHITE FLOWY DRESS. SEE, SHE SAID, TURNING THE BOOK SO SHE COULD SEE IT. SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO ADD, SO SHE WAITED FOR A REACTION FROM THE GIRL, NOT REALIZING OR THINKING THAT THIS GIRL MIGHT THINK HER A FREAK FOR THE PICTURE. STARLYN WAS TYPICALLY NAIVE ABOUT THOUGHTS LIKE THOSE...

The girls voice was so pretty, soft and nice. Lucky beamed beautifully and then tilted her head, her eyes falling down to what the girl was showing her. It was a picture of her, a well done one at that. Her mouth formed an 'o' and she looked up at her. You drew me? she said and then her lips turned back into a smile, a tender one. she moved closer to the girl, not even thinking about what the picture could mean. Most people would have been alerted by it, but her attention went from, picture to... pretty girl.
"Im lucky she said, though someone would probably think she meant that she was saying she was lucky and not saying her name. if the girl thought so she would correct her. Whats yours?' she asked, her eyes going to the golden tresses of the girl. She loved hair.
Reaching out she ran her fingers through the girls hair. You have lovely hair. So soft. she smiled yet again her movements always so graceful and she had this aura about her. It was hard not to be drawn to her. You're not entirely like me.. she commented off hand. she knew she was of a fairy, but she could tell the girl wasnt completely fairy. You like it here? I do too.. she gave an alluring look. Its going to rain soon... you should come towards the meadow and twirl with me
Lucky was drawn to the girl, she was absolutely lovely. She had such a sweet and innocentness about her. She hoped she would come with her.

THE GIRL STANDING BEFORE HER WAS BEAUTIFUL, THIN, TALL AND HAD A SWEET VOICE, STARLYN COULDN'T HELP BUT FEEL MESMERIZED AND CONNECTED TO HER. SHE LIKED THE LOOK OF SURPRISE ON THE GIRLS FACE, AFTER SEEING THE IMAGES THAT STARLYN DREW IN HER NOTEBOOK OF THE GIRL - BEFORE EVER MEETING HER. I DID DRAW YOU, YOU ARE MORE BEAUTIFUL IN PERSON THOUGH. STARLYN SMILED AT THE GIRL, GLAD SHE DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING WEIRD OF THE IMAGE. OR AT LEAST GLAD THAT SHE DIDN'T SHOW WEIRDNESS ABOUT IT, UNLIKE MOST OTHER PEOPLE SHE HAD MET OR RAN ACROSS AND TRIED TO SHARE HER GIFT WITH THEM.
THE INTRODUCED HERSELF AS LUCKY, IT WAS A STATEMENT SO BOLD, THAT STARLYN KNEW IT WAS HER NAME, NOT SOME FASCIST STATEMENT THAT THE GIRL WAS TRYING TO RUB IN HER FACE. BUT SHE WAS REASSURED WHEN ASKED HER OWN NAME. SHE REACHED A HAND UP SLOWLY, TUCKING A STRAND OF HAIR BEHIND HER EAR AS SHE STOOD TO MEET THE GIRLS OWN HEIGHT. MY NAME IS STARLYN, SHE SAID, BUT YOU CAN CALL ME STAR. SHE LIKED HAVING A NICKNAME, AND ONLY TOLD CLOSE FRIENDS THEY WERE ALOUD TO CALL HER THAT. SHE HOPED THAT LUCKY WOUD BE A CLOSE FRIEND.
THE THE GIRL TOUCHED HER OWN HAIR, SHE SHIVERED, A CHILL RUNNING UP THE ENTIRE LEGNTH OF HER SPINE. SHE LET THE GIRL RUN IT THROUGH HER FINGERS, SHE WASN'T SURE WHAT TO SAY. STARLYN WAS MESMERIZED, LOST IN THE GIRLS DARK EYES AND SAID, NO I'M NOT. I AM ONLY HALF FAIRY. SHE SAID, THE FIRST TIME EITHER OF THEM STATING WHAT THEY WERE, NOT COMPLETELY HUMAN, BUT NOT COMPLETELY MONSTER. SHE NODDED TO THE GIRLS QUESTIONS ABOUT THE FOREST.
I LOVE IT HERE, IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL. AND SHE AGREED ABOUT THE RAIN AND FOLLOWED THE FAIRY FURTHER INTO THE WOODS, TO THE MEADOW THAT SHE HERSELF KNEW SO WELL.

Lucky tilted her head a little and gave a small kind of giggle and a smile that curved the corners of her lips as she looked down. She ran a hand down her hair that layed over her shoulders and then picked up a piece of it twirling the end around one thin finger. "Its very nice... You're good' she said. Lucky licked her lips leaning over a bit to see the picture again she untwirled her from her finger and traced the image on the paper. mmm..
When the blond beauty told lucky her name, luckys blue eyes shot up to her face and her smile widened. "oo... really? thats... beautiful' she nodded. A beautiful name for a beautiful girl...' she said. Starlyn... star. mmm... I like that. I Love the sky... You're my favorite. she leaned over and kissed the girl on the cheek and smiled again.
When star said she was only half fairy, lucky shook her head. Its okay... at least you have a bit of two things. That makes you extra special. her fingers continued to stroke through her hair, running down to push past to her neck, touching it lightly with her fingers. What would you like to be?' she asked.
mm it really is. Look at all thats here... and available.. for us. I mean.. its so beautiful and everythings so amazing...' she dropped her hand from the girls neck only to take a hold of her hand as they headed to the meadow. The sky was darkening as the storm clouds came in. By the time they hit the meadow raindrops had already started to fall.
Come on star! she pulled her to the middle of the meadow then took both of her hands and started to twirl them tilting her head back to let the rain hit her face.
